4-2 Students experience the impact of government on citizens’ everyday lives.
1. Watch this video- Citizen Unite tpscongress.org/citizens-unite/ from the beginning to 4:45 to get an idea of representative democracy and the right to vote.
2. “What are the big ideas behind representative democracy?”
3. View the Schoolhouse Rock video, I’m Just a Bill. Encourage participants to take notes of the process of becoming a bill.
4. At the end of the video, divide participants into three or four groups and handout the lyrics. Ask each group to create a map of Bill’s journey, using the lyrics.
5. Ask each group to share their map with the rest of the group.
